Dan Branch is a prominent Texas political leader, attorney and advocate for advancing higher education. He is a former Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education in the Texas House of Representatives and currently serves as Commissioner on the Education Commission of the States. During his six-year tenure in the Texas House, he was a leading advocate of numerous education reforms and was recognized by Texas Monthly among its “Ten Best Legislators”. Branch received his J.D. degree from SMU Dedman School of Law, a B.A. and B.S. with highest honors from Oklahoma Christian University and studied at the Institute of Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University.
